Jindong Cai, Director 蔡金冬, 院长
Conductor Jindong Cai is the director of the US-China Music Institute, co-director of the Chinese Music Development Initiative, professor of music and arts at Bard College, and associate conductor of Bard’s The Orchestra Now. Prior to joining Bard he was a professor of performance at Stanford University. In a career spanning more than 30 years in the United States, Cai has established himself as an active and dynamic conductor, scholar of Western classical music in China, and leading advocate of music from across Asia.

Yu Hongmei, President of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), is an eminent erhu virtuoso, educator, and scholar whose leadership has significantly shaped the development of Chinese music in both national and international contexts. As professor and doctoral advisor at CCOM, she has advanced major initiatives in the preservation and innovation of traditional instrumental practices and has directed nationally funded research projects on the transmission of Chinese musical heritage. Yu played a central role in establishing the Chinese Music Development Initiative, a collaboration between CCOM and the US-China Music Institute, fostering institutional partnerships and global engagement with Chinese music.
于红梅,中央音乐学院院长,当代杰出的二胡演奏家、教育家与学者,其领导力在中国音乐的国内与国际发展中发挥了重要作用。作为中央音乐学院教授、博士生导师,她主持并推动了中国传统器乐传承与创新的重要项目,并承担国家级课题研究,致力于中国音乐遗产的系统整理与学术阐释。她在中央音乐学院与美国巴德学院中美音乐研究所共同发起并创建了“中国音乐发展计划”,促进了中外高等学府的深度合作与中国音乐的国际传播。
wu man, artistic adviser 吴蛮,艺术顾问
Recognized as the world’s premier pipa virtuoso and leading ambassador of Chinese music, Wu Man has carved out a career as a soloist, educator, and composer, giving her lute-like instrument—which has a history of over 2,000 years in China—a new role in both traditional and contemporary music. Through numerous concert tours Wu Man has premiered hundreds of new works for the pipa, while spearheading multimedia projects to both preserve and create awareness of China’s ancient musical traditions.
吴蛮是国际乐坛上中国音乐的使者与琵琶音乐的代言人,更是跨界音乐与跨文化交流的标志性人物。美国《洛杉矶时报》评论“吴蛮是将琵琶介绍给西方的重要音乐家……”。她五次获得美国格莱美唱片“最佳演奏”和“最佳世界音乐专辑”奖提名,并入围台湾金曲“最佳传统音乐专辑奖”。她以杰出的艺术成就和突出的贡献荣获重要的“美国艺术家”大奖,并被西方媒体与大众公认为“中国音乐的使者”。
Liangxing Tang, Visiting Professor and Academic Advisor 汤良兴 特聘教授与学术顾问
Tang Liangxing is a renowned Chinese pipa performer and educator specializing in traditional pipa and Jiangnan silk and bamboo music. Born in Shanghai in 1948, he studied with distinguished pipa masters from an early age. He has performed with major orchestras and toured extensively across the United States, Europe, Japan, and other regions. In 1993, he received the U.S. National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship. Since 1998, he has taught at the National Tainan University of the Arts, contributing significantly to the performance, education, and international promotion of Chinese music.
汤良兴,著名琵琶演奏家、教育家,生于上海。曾任台湾国立台南艺术大学中国音乐学系教授、台北市立国乐团及中央民族乐团艺术顾问。自幼学习二胡、琵琶及古琴,师从多位名家,十五岁登台独奏。曾任上海交响乐团琵琶独奏演员,并随团出访亚洲、欧洲、澳洲及北美近二十个国家。1986年赴美深造,先后在林肯中心、卡内基音乐厅及多所美国高校演出、讲学。1993年获美国国家艺术基金会(NEA)国家传统艺术家大奖。其演奏兼具传统韵味与现代技巧,并长期致力于琵琶及江南丝竹的教学、创作与传承,在海内外具有广泛影响。
